WINNERS ANNOUNCED AT SEVENTH ANNUAL EXECUTIVE OF THE YEAR AWARDS HELD AT ICC SYDNEY

Transport and Logistics Executive of the Year 

Neil Scales is the Director-General at the Department of Transport and Main Roads (QLD). Neil had a massive achievement this year as he oversaw the delivery of a successful transport network for the Commonwealth Games. This was in addition to my business-as-usual activities of running Queensland’s transport network with a focus on regional areas which strengthened local capability to boost prosperity sustainably.

EXECUTIVE OF THE YEAR AWARDS HELD AT ICC SYDNEY
 
 
The CEO Magazine awarded the APAC CEO and Executive Director of Talent International, Mark Nielsen, the CEO of the Year title at the seventh annual Executive of the Year Awards at the ICC Sydney.

 

Australia’s captains of industry gathered tonight to honour and celebrate the country’s leading executives and CEOs across 23 categories.

 

Mark proudly accepted the top gong of the Awards and was also presented with the Professional Services Executive of the Year Award this evening.

 

Mark has been responsible for driving Talent International to the next level for staff engagement, revenue and profitability. He has paid keen focus on staff to create a motivated team that is focused on meeting the company’s goals and has achieved an incredibly high retention rate. He has also improved the company’s market position now ranking number one out of five in the ANZ market.  

 

One of the highlights from tonight’s ceremony was Emma Hendry, CEO of Hendry Group, winning the Building and Construction Executive of the Year Award in what has previously been a male-dominated category.

 

This year, a new category was announced for Education Executive of the Year. This award recognises quality teaching practices and outstanding contributions to student learning. The inaugural award was presented this evening to Mathew Jacobson, Founder and CEO of Ducere Global Business School.
 
Winners were presented with their awards at the glittering black-tie event held at the ICC Sydney, in front of more than 600 guests. The Awards were hosted by Kylie Gillies and Larry Emdur and judged by an expert panel of highly regarded business professionals. Some of these included Lorna Jane Clarkson, Founder and Chief Creative Officer of Lorna Jane, Steve Baxter, entrepreneur and investor on Shark Tank, as well as last year’s CEO of the Year winnerMichael Ebeid, Group Executive, Enterprise, Telstra.

 

 There were 10 finalists in the CEO of the Year category. The runner-up was John Winning,CEO of Winning Group, while Rob Goudswaard, CEO of Credit Union Australia, was Highly Commended.

 

CEO and Co-Founder of The CEO Magazine Chris Dutton said: “I’m thrilled that this year’s Executive of the Year Awards exceeded all our expectations. We saw a record number of applications, a record level of brilliance and our biggest attendance numbers to date with more than 600 guests joining us at the ICC Sydney to celebrate the individuals behind some of Australia’s top business brands.

“I’m incredibly proud that for seven years now we have held this prestigious event that genuinely impacts the professional lives of those in leadership positions. It’s an exciting time for The CEO Magazine – our US office is now open, and the magazine is looking the best it ever has. With hundreds of entries received, the Awards identify the achievements of aspiring and established leaders in 23 categories across industry sectors such as media, retail, education, construction, energy and resources, health and pharmaceutical, and telecommunications. 
 
Other highlights of the evening included Dr Aniss Chami from Vitex Pharmaceuticals being named Manufacturing Executive of the Year for the second year running, Kate Massey taking out Young Executive of the YearStephen Canning winning IT and Telecommunications Executive of the Year, and Lesley Braun being awarded the Health and Pharmaceutical Executive of the Year Award.
