Teens and Mental Health during COVID-19

The pandemic is clearly having a negative impact on teenagers’ education, but it could also be affecting their mental wellbeing. It can be difficult for parents to know how to help in this situation.

So I wanted to share this resource called ‘Teaching Your Teen To Manage Uncertainty’ which aims to tackle these problems. It covers:

  • The issues and uncertainties that teens are facing as a result of COVID-19 pandemic, and how best to deal with them.
  • How the COVID-19 pandemic and school closures mean that 2020 was the most disrupted academic year in 75 years.
  • Useful techniques that parents can use to help their teens cope with the stress of exam cancellations and home learning, such as emotional reasoning or virtual socialising.
  • Ways for parents to talk to their teen children to help them improve their mental health and wellbeing during the pandemic.
