Senator Glenn Sterle at the wheel in the Pilbara

Driver training is front and centre for road transport on Senator Glenn Sterle's agenda. After three days with Heather Jones in the Pilbara, Senator Sterle shows his road train prowess, from his  former grass roots and transport background, now behind the wheel of a Volvo. Senator Sterle took up Heather's offer to show what a great driver training program can do to underpin the industry in possibly Australia's most export oriented region, the Pilbara in WA. Heather is the CEO of the Pilbara Girls Heavy Haulage group and specializes in training of double, triple and quad road trains.

Heather's passion for training was absolutely supported by Senator Sterle who no doubt will keep the focus on this national issue when he is back in Canberra. CILT-Australia is also proud to have Heather as a member of its Driver training advisory group. Heather also put out the offer to see the road transport industry in action in the Pilbara to all interested National, State ministers and Senators.  If others share Senator Sterle's passion for the industry, Australia's road transport sector will see continued improvements and career openings.
