Planning for the future at the Port of Newcastle

On Thursday the 28th June, Professor Roy Green, Chairman of Port of Newcastle, delivered a compelling presentation on the rationale for a container terminal in Newcastle. The Port of Newcastle has capacity to more than double its operations of 4,500 vessel movements a year with a viable and competitive container terminal. The three stage development proposal would eventually see 2 million containers throughput capacity with significant savings throughout the import and export supply chains. Professor Greens’ presentation provided the audience of over 50 guests with confidence that with the right political support, the container terminal site could be under development within the next five years.
