Considering the current emerging demographic, urbanization and climatic trends, integrating sustainability and resilience principles into urban development becomes a key priority for decision-makers worldwide.

We can see sustainable solutions also need to be found regarding governance, at the interface between federal, state and local governments. Local government requires some state guidance, federal government resists involvement with local councils etc … who takes the leadership or fills the void, in those transitions …? Some local government groups do have co-operative relationships operating, but how effective they will be in the light of new infrastructure initiatives is yet to be established...

This year’s conference theme is “Integrated Thinking for Sustainable Cities and Communities”.

As a Delegate, Speaker or Sponsor of the Conference you will be part of an experience that is widely regarded as facilitating knowledge-sharing among participants and city leaders on policy reform and innovation to inform and inspire climate action. The UN Global Knowledge Platform will provide access to cutting-edge tools for countries and cities to pursue aspirations for creating the future smart and sustainable cities.

The Sustainable Integrated Cities 2017 Conference will be held at Curtin University from 4th to 5th December 2017. In addition to providing professional opportunities for input and debate for practitioners, policy makers, researchers and academics, Sustainable Integrated Cities 2017 will offer delegates the occasion to renew connections and acquaintances, and of course meet new colleagues from within the industry.
