The needs of people living with disability are as diverse as the technologies that are now available to help create solutions. With so much potential available to us, we need to understand the greatest barriers to using transport and focus our efforts to ensure that transport is universally accessible.
Successful accessible public transport is all round better public transport, and is a win for all. It removes stress and opens up opportunities for users and communities, and increases patronage for operators.
This webinar will look at the barriers associated with using public transport for different kinds of disability and explore options for increasing accessibility in light of existing and emerging technologies. It will also include valuable information on transport accessibility for developers of private passenger vehicles.
This project was undertaken by partners La Trobe University (research lead) and the federal Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications and the Arts.
This work was developed in partnership with Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) members to enable governments across Asia Pacific to develop inclusivity-focused policy for their transport networks.
