The Great Road Safety Debate

When:  May 8, 2025 from 17:00 to 18:45 (ET)

Get ready for a live and interactive discussion focused on road safety in Victoria!

More than 1.3 million people die each year on the world’s roads, and another 20 to 50 million are seriously injured. Despite continued and increasing efforts over the past decade, road trauma rates have risen globally. In 2024 alone, 282 lives were lost on Victorian roads.

How can we leave a safer road legacy for communities now and into the future? We invite you to join us for a unique, debate-style event moderated by GHD Senior Transport Engineer, Madeleine Fletcher-Kennedy.

Two teams will explore various aspects of road safety, with audience participation through Mentimeter to create a truly collaborative discussion.

Debate Captains:

  • Adam Wilmot - Technical Director - Roads and Civil Infrastructure, GHD
  • Lisa Brodie - Senior Manager, Road Safety Strategy & Investment Planning, Department of Transport and Planning

  • Rebecka Gunnarson - Principal Consultant (Transport Advisory), Veitch Lister Consulting
