A bill of lading is a document issued by a carrier which details a shipment of merchandise and gives title of that shipment to a specified party.

The bill of lading also serves as a receipt of shipment when the good is delivered to the predetermined destination. This document must accompany the shipped goods, no matter the form of transportation, and must be signed by an authorized representative from the carrier, shipper and receiver.

This webinar will cover:

Guest Speaker: John Livermore FCILT

John Livermore is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Transport and Logistics and a former Chair of the Tasmanian Chapter.

He retired in 2002 as Senior Lecturer in Commercial Law in their School of Accounting and Finance, Faculty of Commerce and Economics, University of Tasmania. He served as its Dean 1986-1988.

He  has presented papers on commercial law in Australia and New Zealand, on maritime law to the International Congress of Comparative Law (Montreal, Athens, Bristol) and aviation law to the Asian International Institute of Air and Space Law (Taipei, Beijing, Seoul, Shanghia).

Since 1990 he has been Editor of Transport Laws of Australia (Thomsoreuters) and has also published ‘Transport Law in Australia’ (Wolters Kluwer 2nd ed 2014).

He enjoys bushwalking, relaxing with family and friends, travelling overseas when possible and fossicking through second-hand bookshops.
