Event Description:

Join Dr David Wilson as he presents a very low key, non-stressful fun introduction to "the World of Statistics and the relevance and importance in logistics and supply chain management" 

Who Should Attend?

Anyone who has not progressed with mathematics or statistics past high school or who have forgotten most first year university introductory quantitative subjects. This is a hands-on one day course where participants will be involved with calculating and interpreting data.

What Should You Bring?

  •  A simple pocket calculator with a square root function.
  • (If possible a lap top computer with Microsoft Excel to gain full benefit of the course – we will be using the statistics pack from Excel.)

Learning Objectives:

  • Why use numbers in logistics?
  • Describing data and results – how to present data.
  • Using pie charts, bar graphs and scatter grams
  • Calculating averages and variations
  • Conducting surveys – how much data do I need?
  • How reliable are my results?
  • Understanding Quality Control
  • Safety Stock in inventory management
  • Forecasting – the crystal ball effect

Course numbers are limited to 12 participants to ensure maximum interaction and one on one learning.
