9.00am - 4.30pm
Graduation House, 220 Leicester St, Carlton, VIC
This unique intensive professional development program (PDP) examines Freight Network Restructuring and Logistics Strategy and Warehouse Location.

Assoc. Professor Kim Hassall examines the structure of freight networks, what makes good and bad networks. The program has been run internationally and many of the case studies have saved resources for the attending companies. Such concepts as double loop intermodal networks, bi-polar, fork transformations and co-modal terminals will be examined is this short course. As well the applications and benefits of Performance Based Standard vehicles on different networks will be briefly examined.

Dr. David Wilson will present on logistics strategy and warehouse location. Logistics strategy is a complex process that currently is more often than not couched in terms of supply chain planning, alignment and optimization. But a big part of logistics strategy (or supply chains) for any organization is warehousing and transport systems. This course examines in detail the principles of warehouse location and how it relates to logistics and transport. In particular this course examines the relationship between networks and warehouses and shows participants how to design a warehouse strategy that works with its associated transport network. Together, transport networks and their warehouses bring together the essence of strategic supply chain management.
