An introduction to the RTSA and CORE 2010
The Railway Technical Society of Australasia (RTSA) is a joint technicalsociety of Engineers Australia (EA) and the Institution of ProfessionalEngineers New Zealand (IPENZ). EA and IPENZ are both not-for-profit professional societies representing professional engineers of all disciplines in their respective countries. Membership of the RTSA is technically based but is open to all railway professionals.
CORE is the RTSA’s biennial Conference on Railway Engineering. Last held in Perth in September 2008 it attracted a record attendance of over 570 full delegates and a total attendance of over 850. A feature was 50 youth scholarship registrations awarded by the RTSA to students and recent
graduates.
CORE has grown to be one of the most respected railway technical conferences available, offering only peer reviewed technical papers of the highest standard. CORE is a non-commercial conference overseen by an voluntary organising committee of railway professionals as a service to the
benefit of the profession and the industry.
In 2010 CORE will for the first time be held in New Zealand, in Wellington from the 12th to the 15th of September. A NZ organising committee is working to present a conference that continues CORE’s high technical standing and adds a unique NZ flavour with the opportunity to experience the achievements of rail in NZ.
