Newcastle Airport is a significant gateway into NSW and the Hunter. As a major transport hub it is critical to economic and social infrastructure and its planned and managed growth has helped underpin the continued prosperity of the Hunter.

David Nye, Manager Aviation Business Development, has almost 25 years aviation experience. Prior to joining Newcastle Airport in 2006, David held senior operating and commercial positions for airlines including Cathay Pacific, Qatar Airways and VLM Airlines, and was based out of offices in the UK, Indonesia, Singapore and the Maldives. During his time at Newcastle Airport, David has overseen the Newcastle Airport re-brand, the development of community- and customer-focused programs, policies and procedures, the growth of airlines through the port, as well as significant aviation research projects. David has been instrumental in the introduction of additional services by airlines, particularly Jetstar and Virgin Australia into the Newcastle market, where passengers have increased by 33.3% in the past five years.

David will address CILTA Hunter and its guests on the developments and achievements of Newcastle Airport and its plans for continued growth.
